My Favourite Place
Ruby, 13I could hear the rush of flowing water as I ran down the gravel track to the Waikanae River. The small sharp stones hurt my barefeet and with the sweltering sun’s rays beating down on my shoulders I couldn’t wait to jump into the icy water. I stepped in the shade of some trees to lather myself with sunscreen, then with every ounce of energy I had left, I ran down onto the boiling, sun-heated, boulder-like rocks and leapt into the river, sparkling droplets splashed everywhere as I broke the glass-like surface. This is definitely one of my favourite spots.
