Long Beach, Dunedin
Cody, 11I hear the waves crashing against the sand, kids yelling while playing with the waves.
I feel and taste the salty wind, the body board against my body.
I see the colossal waves stand over me like giants, the waves rushing to grab like I have the ball in rugby and the cave mouth gaping, a giant arch of scoria.
The super tankers roar into Port Chalmers’ ports.
Blue penguins waddle along the beach, dogs run along the strip of sand.
Possums screech at me in the night, cats hiss at dogs.
The neighbours’ dogs yap at us... only the waves, the wind and the birds reply.
