Hot Water Beach
Bay of Plenty/Coromandel
James, 13I stare over the whitecaps, peering down at the kids frolicking in the water, impatient to go for a swim. I hear sound of the waves crashing onto the beach like thunder in the dead of night, drawing me closer to the fun, desperate to join my friends. The feeling of grains of sand fly past like hail stinging my legs, making me long for the relief of the ocean. The foul stench of rotten eggs radiating off the lagoon, almost forcing me away out into deep sea. I gaze down at the the little sand hoppers jumping around in the sand. A soft sea breeze, blowing through my hair calming my frustration.
