A day in paradise

Pounawea

Otago

Danielle , 13

I wake up to birds chirping and the smell of salt air sneaking in the window. There is a nice gentle breeze brushing across my face. I get up to face the day. Faith and I step foot onto the silky sand. It oozes over my toes. I let Faith run free, she frolics, bounces and chases after every bird in sight. I run along behind her, the sand and salt water flicking into my hair. The sharp shells scrap the skin off the bottom of my feet. Family and friends gather around the table when we arrive back. We are preparing for a great night ahead. The sun is setting. You can never have too much beach!
